About
Finding parking in Dubrovnik can be challenging, especially during the summer season. The closer you get to the Old Town, the more expensive and limited parking becomes. Planning ahead can save both time and money.
Parking near Dubrovnik Old Town
The closest parking areas to the Old Town are located around Pile Gate and Buža. These are the most convenient options if you want to be within a few minutes' walk of the city walls, but they are also the most expensive parking locations in Dubrovnik. During the summer season, parking rates around the Old Town can reach up to €20 per hour in Zone 0.
One of the most popular choices is the public garage at Ilijina Glavica. Located just a short walk from Pile Gate, it offers hundreds of parking spaces and is usually the easiest place to find a spot close to the historic center.
Visitors looking for more affordable daily parking can also find several private parking facilities around the city, including options near Ploče and Gruž that offer lower daily rates than the parking areas directly beside the city walls.
Please note that on-street parking around the Old Town is generally reserved for residents and permit holders and it is in a restricted zone area. Parking in restricted areas may result in fines or vehicle removal.
Parking in the newer part of Dubrovnik
If you do not mind using public transport, Uber, Bolt, or walking for a short distance, parking outside the Old Town area can be significantly cheaper.
Popular parking options include areas around Dubrovnik General Hospital, facilities near Mercante Shopping Center, Gruž Port parking areas, private parking lots throughout Gruž, and Grand Parking Dubrovnik in Gruž.
Most of these locations are connected to the Old Town by regular city buses and are only a few minutes away by taxi or ride-sharing services.
Street parking is available throughout Lapad, Gruž, and other residential areas. Parking tickets can be purchased at parking meters, through mobile apps, or via SMS. Always check the parking zone and signage before leaving your vehicle.
Important traffic regulation around the Old Town
Dubrovnik has introduced a Special Traffic Regulation Zone around the Old Town in order to reduce congestion and improve access for residents and visitors. The restricted zone covers the roads surrounding the historic center, including the area between Ilijina Glavica, Pile, Ploče, and Viktorija.
Only authorized vehicles are allowed to enter this zone. Visitors arriving by car should be aware that access is controlled and unauthorized entry may result in fines.
If your accommodation provides parking inside the restricted area, your vehicle registration must usually be registered in advance through the official city parking management system operated by Sanitat Dubrovnik. Parking reservations and vehicle registration requests can be made through the official Sanitat website.
For the easiest experience, we recommend parking outside the restricted zone and walking, using public transport, or taking a licensed Uber or Bolt service to the Old Town.
A little planning before arrival can save you considerable time, money, and stress while visiting Dubrovnik.
